The Department of Surgery (DOS) at Mayo Clinic Florida is a premier academic department in Jacksonville, Florida, employing and developing the most innovative digital strategies and advanced surgical technology. We provide outstanding service and access in practice, high quality education, and drive research in a diverse, inclusive, and collegial environment.
The Mayo Clinic Florida DOS includes 26 physicians and 21 APPs across the Divisions of Advanced GI and Bariatric Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Vascular Surgery.
The DOS offers graduate medical education through our General Surgery Residency, Plastic Surgery Residency, Colorectal Surgery Fellowship, and a Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship. We also provide training to medical students through the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine.
Mayo Clinic Florida is ranked as the #1 hospital in Florida and the Jacksonville metro are in U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals” 2024-2025. We ranked nationally among the top 50 hospitals in the following subspecialties within DOS – Cancer, Vascular Surgery, and GI Surgery
Faculty within the DOS are leading research efforts to generate new knowledge and translate discoveries into therapies to advance patient care through projects like PIPAC, robotic mastectomy, regenerative medicine and augmentation of cancer tumor vascular modification as it relates to drug delivery
