President's Message
It is a great honor to serve as the President of the Florida Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
First and foremost, we are thinking about our colleagues who have been impacted by Hurricane Ian. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to all of our colleagues and their families who were affected by this disaster.
The opportunity to see so many of you during our recent Annual Meeting in Tampa was a reminder as to why our Chapter exists--to bring surgeons together and offer critical educational resources that improve patient care.
While the Chapter continues to build back our traditions prior to the pandemic, we want to hear from you. What benefits do you need? What do you value most during our meetings? What new ideas do you have for us to consider? My strategy over the coming year is to focus on the Chapter’s fiscal priorities and to rightsize our efforts ensuring we remain a valuable, thriving resource for Florida surgeons.
In our quest, I encourage everyone to register for the All-Florida Reception during the American College of Surgeons’ Clinical Congress. We’ll host the Reception in the Marriott Marquis Hotel’s Newport Beach Room on October 17, 5:30-7:30pm PT. The event will offer state-wide networking and is not to be missed! RSVP today!

Looking ahead to 2023, please also save the dates for our Annual Meeting at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport Hotel June 2-4, 2023. Mark Dobbertien, DO, FACS, President-Elect and his Program Committee are currently developing the program.
Finally, I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the following 2022-2023 Chapter Council Members for your dedicated service and commitment to the Florida Chapter. It is an honor to serve alongside you, and your motivation to secure the future of our Chapter is much appreciated.
Sincerely, Susan Hoover, MD, FACS
