Call for Nominations for the Raymond H. Alexander, MD Award
The Raymond H. Alexander, MD Award is awarded to a member of the Florida Chapter of the American College of Surgeons for outstanding dedication to the medical profession in the field of surgery through excellence in the awardees’ display of at least one of the following criteria:
Clinical care
Education
Innovation
Leadership
Research
Community involvement (e.g., state medical/surgical community, pre-hospital care)
Dr. Alexander was a tireless advocate for trauma care in Florida and Jacksonville. Under his guidance and leadership, Florida became recognized as one of the few states with legislated trauma systems. His leadership was also evident nationally in the ACS Committee on Trauma, where he was Chief of Region IV. Dr. Alexander influenced many surgeons, physicians, residents, and patients during his professional career. His courage and determination through adversity inspire all fortunate to have known him.
