If you are a resident or qualifying trainee and wish to participate in any of the following events taking place at the annual meeting, please sign-up using the links below. You must be registered for the meeting to participate:
Residents Surgical Jeopardy: 
Location: Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando
Date: Saturday, May 1, 2021
Time: 8:00 – 9:00 AM
Resident teams from surgery programs throughout Florida are invited to sign-up to participate in this yearly knowledge-based competition. The winning team gets the opportunity to represent the state at the 2021 ACS Clinical Congress Jeopardy competition. 
Important: Before signing up for this competition, please make sure your team meets eligibility requirements as outlined below:

  • Any program that participated in a Surgical Jeopardy in another part of the state or other state in not eligible to participate in the Surgical Jeopardy competition at the Florida Chapter annual meeting.
  • All teams must consist of ONLY 2 players.
  • No one on team should be set to graduate until after the 2021 academic year.

This session is open to all residents, with the purpose of providing a setting for you to prepare for the ABS General Surgery Certification Exam.

Surgical Simulation Session/Surgical Olympics:

Date: Friday, April 30, 2021
Time: 12:00 – 4:00 PM (tentative)
The purpose of this session is to allow trainees and residents to put their skills to practice using hands-on materials at several unique skill stations. At each station you will be instructed and graded on a particular skill set(s). The 2 highest-scoring residents of this competition will have their names submitted to the ACS for possible participation in the ACS Clinical Congress Surgical Olympics competition.

The Florida Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (FCACS) Surgical Education Committee invites the submission of abstracts for the Edward M. Copeland, III, MD, FACS Research Symposium. Accepted abstracts will be presented virtually at the Edward M. Copeland, III, MD, FACS Research Symposium & Business Meeting taking place on Saturday, May 1, 2021

Spectacularly Challenging Cases


The Florida Chapter, American College of Surgeons invites Residents and Fellows (ACS and Associate Fellows only) to submit case studies to be considered for presentations during an interactive case presentation session at the Edward M. Copeland, III, MD, FACS Research Symposium & Business Meeting taking place on Saturday, May 1, 2021. We are looking for cases that place an emphasis on the use of new techniques, new technologies, and new ways of using existing techniques and technologies to improve surgical outcomes.
